Dr. Kemi Olajumoke Adu has over two decades of teaching experience at primary, secondary and university across three African countries (Nigeria, Botswana and South Africa). She is passionate about developing mathematics teachers at elementary levels where she believes that solutions to education problems should start. She is an expert in Mathematics Education focusing on the effectiveness of pedagogies for teaching Mathematics at the foundation and intermediated phase levels. She is working in the STEM area of research. She has worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at University of Fort Hare for a couple of years and is presently in the same position at Walter Sisulu University, South Africa. She has attended many international conferences in countries like Namibia, Botswana, Nigeria, and the UK and has co-supervised some master’s students and published extensively in her areas of specialisation like Mathematics Education (Primary School), Science Education, ICT in Education, and Curriculum Studies.
Dr Nomxolisi Mtsi is a senior lecturer in the Department of Initial Primary Education at Walter Sisulu University’s Komani Campus, specialising in education with a Doctorate in Philosophy in Science Education. She possesses extensive experience in teaching the Foundation Phase, Senior Phase, and postgraduate studies. She has held various professional roles, including manager and curriculum developer, and an active member of the Easter Cape Provincial Quality Teaching and Learning Campaign. Currently, she serves as the departmental research chair and involved in multiple committees, including the Faculty Research Higher Degrees Committee and the Faculty Research Ethics Committee. As the Chairperson of the EWIRA Komani Chapter and the Funding and Grant Committee, she fosters academic collaboration and funding opportunities. Dr Mtsi supervises B Ed. Honours, and D.Ed/PhD students, and is affiliated with SAARMSTE and SAERA. She has published research in accredited journals and presented at national and international conference, demonstrating her commitment to advancing education.
