The paper explores how entrepreneurial intentions develop among female undergraduate students, focusing on the roles of structural social capital, specifically bonding, bridging, and linking, and entrepreneurial self-efficacy (ESE). Using the partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) approach, the study analysed survey data collected from a sample of 227 female undergraduate students in the Philippines. The findings indicate that entrepreneurial self-efficacy positively influences entrepreneurship intentions. Additionally, ESE plays a significant mediating role in the relationship between structural social capital and entrepreneurial intentions. The results suggest that ESE fully mediates the relationship between bonding and bridging social capital and entrepreneurial intentions, and partially mediates the effect of linking social capital. These results highlight ESE’s critical role as a mechanism for translating structural social capital into entrepreneurial intentions. The study recommends that entrepreneurship education prioritize strategies aimed at enhancing students’ abilities to leverage social capital, thereby building their self-efficacy and fostering their entrepreneurial intentions.
