This study presents the place of the Almajiri system of education in Lafia, Nassarawa State, Nigeria. It traced the background history of Lafia and the development of the Almajiri system of education in the state. The researchers documented the mode and teaching methodology as well as processes of the Almajiri education system in Lafia. Consequently, this study, which was developed using primary data that was collected from field interviews, found that there are a number of misconceptions and abuses within the Almajiri system of education. The study recommends multiple strategies for strengthening the education system for the overall human capital development of the country. The study is significant considering the population of people that constitute the Almajiri population in the state, as well as their potential contribution to societal building when empowered intellectually.
