There are challenges in the translation and interpretation of the biblical texts from the Source Languages (SL) to Receptor Languages (RL).  These stem from the fact that no two languages are the same. Mother-Tongue Biblical Hermeneutics studies the translation and interpretation similarities and differences that come out of various translations of the Bible into the indigenous languages of people. The value of the similarities and differences in the translation of biblical texts is that it gives theological insights to existing interpretations of the texts. These insights create avenues for the scholarly study of mother-tongue biblical texts in addition to the Hebrew Bible, Septuagint and Greek New Testament. Language is a communication tool. God understands and speaks human languages; thus, scholars can theologize in their languages. Journal of Mother-Tongue Biblical Hermeneutics and Theology (MOTBIT) is an academic bulletin for the dissemination of research outcomes on the following research themes:

  • Biblical Interpretation
  • Bible Translation
  • Mother Tongue Theology
  • Linguistics
  • Biblical Theology
